Matt Clement pitched 6 innings and only allowed three runs in today’s Sox 8-3 win over the Detroit Tigers. After being 5-3 in the 8th inning where bad pitching by the Tigers put the Red Sox ahead by three runs. Clement was finally pulled out of the game by fatigue, and Jason Varitek. Varitek called the medical staff from the dugout after noticing Matt Clement was getting tired. The eighth inning might have been ugly to the Detroit Tigers, especially when their manager was pulled, but it was just what the Red Sox needed.
While the Yankees are sending many of their players on to the disabled list a group of Red Sox players are just about to return. Coco Crisp who has battled with a fractured finger, the flu,and kidney stones over the past month is finally due to go on a rehab assignment. David Wells who started the year on the DL,came back and struggled is going to start Friday against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, and David Riske was activated yesterday after being out with a back injury from spring training.
